A playful peek into our unique Kindergarten life

We have some limited Kindergarten places available, starting flexibly between September 2026 and January 2027, and would like to invite you and your 2+ year-old to consider joining us for their most crucial Early Childhood Education years.

On Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 June, as well as Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 June 2026, we are opening our doors for some special visits that start at 9.30am and last a good hour or so.

You will have the opportunity to see first-hand our classrooms in action, meet our expert staff and ask them any questions you may have, and engage with your child in some experiential play-based activities both indoors and outdoors.

These Kindergarten Discover & Play sessions are reserved for children born between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024. If your child is younger or older, or if you can’t make these dates, you can also visit and see the school in action by joining one of our regular tours or attending our next Open Morning on Saturday 26 September 2026.

Herne Hill School is a gorgeous environment with wonderful teachers and a solid educational philosophy – and it manages to achieve both a sense of freedom and play that you want for that young age, while also delivering as a structured learning environment. We love the potential for continuity from age 2-7. it’s been the best possible start to formal education that we could have given our daughter.
The setup and physical space in the Kindergarten is very geared towards the stage of the children. Staff are super friendly and warm. My child has most benefitted from the structured learning sessions like Maths that she wouldn’t have gotten in another setting.
The staff are so nurturing, and they weave learning into play in the most wonderful way. Our daughter has relished every moment she has been in Kindergarten.

A truly brilliant school. One of the things that really stands out is how happy the staff are, and the impact this has on the wider atmosphere. It is reassuring to know that staff numbers are high enough to enable flexibility and one-on-one support if a child is upset or struggling. We were incredibly impressed by the response to our son’s difficulties settling in, and the tailored approach adopted to help him to feel more confident and happy.
Family feel school with loving care given to our daughter by all the staff. She developed strong bonds not only with her teacher and key person but with every teacher in Kindergarten and even Mrs Telford. This meant so much to us, to know that each member of staff actively engages and bonds with all kids in the school.
Really excellent staff and leadership team, providing a really solid start to the children’s education and preparing them for their future educational journey.
