Herne Hill School is committed to delivering excellent teaching and learning experiences for all. We believe that the heart of this is effective assessment, underpinned by the school motto, ‘Love, Care, Excellence’ and our belief that every child can succeed.
At the end of Year 2 our children complete the Key Stage 1 curriculum and are given a teacher judgement about the progress they have made in the core subjects of reading, writing and maths. This judgement is based on:
- Day-to-day, detailed and personalised formative assessments
- Regular internal summative assessments
- Nationally standardised summative assessment (commonly called SATs)
As recognised in our most recent ISI inspection report, “the results are far above the national average for maintained primary schools. This, together, with evidence seen during the inspection, shows that pupils are making excellent progress.”
The table below shows the latest available results. Please note, SPAG stands for Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar tests.
